Twitter chatter recently turned literary, when the hashtag #BooksThatMakeYou began trending. Never ones to miss an opportunity to be nosy, we scrolled through numerous references to Louisa May Alcott’s ‘Little Women’, and praise for a variety of philosophers, amongst others that made it into a tweet.

In Mineral HQ, the mention of Ladybird books was greeted with warm sighs of recognition. Their clear, no nonsense writing gave multiple generations of us a thirst to find out more. The accompanying illustrations are easily identifiable as Ladybird, hence the success of the updated versions now available; ‘The Ladybird Book of the Zombie Apocalypse’, anyone?

And the logo. And the typeface. And the texture of the little hardback covers. Oh, beauty.
